Mel joined the Smith Shearer team in June 2007 with 17 years accounting experience under her belt. Mel holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and is a Chartered Accountant.

As a Senior Accountant and Client Manager within the Smith Shearer team, Mel provides professional mentorship to Smith Shearer Accountants through the Chartered Accountant Mentor Program.

Specialising in agribusiness accounting and advisory, and business advisory and compliance for SME’s, Mel’s expertise goes beyond the technical aspects of traditional accounting. By striving to understand your business goals, and how your business functions, Mel provides a big-picture advisory approach whilst being on-hand to answer the everyday accounting queries you have in regards to running your business.

With a strong farming background, Mel knows how farming operations work and this is one of her key strengths. She prides herself on her ability to empathise with clients and offers unique solutions to the most complex of accounting problems.

When she's not in the office, Mel enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, planning and completing renovations on her house, reading a book or spending quality time with friends.
